On Thursday 4th July, the Kemsley football team, led by Mr Wilson, travelled to Greenfields Community Primary School in Maidstone to take on their school football team. This was a repeat match – Greenfields visited Kemsley at the start of term 6 and the result was a 5-5 draw so there was everything to play for.
Kemsley took an early lead with a fantastic goal from Joe L in year 6. Kemsley then did a fantastic job of holding on to this lead until 2 minutes before full time when Greenfields scored an equaliser. This resulted in extra time being played. Extra time gave no further goals and so there was little option but to go to penalties. Lillie was amazing in goal showing determination, strength and bravery when up against the Greenfields team.
Unfortunately, we narrowly missed out on penalties. Greenfields were fantastic hosts though and presented all the Kemsley team with ‘runner up’ medals.
Well done Kemsley. Your behaviour was exemplary, you were true sportspeople, gave the match everything you had and were an absolute credit to the school. We can’t ask more than that!
