On Tuesday 25th March 2014 a squad of 19 gymnasts attended the key steps gymnastics competition at The Swallows leisure centre in Sittingbourne.
It was an exciting day, although a little bit daunting as it is a big competition with large numbers of gymnasts participating.
The Year 3/4 team performed very well, especially as some of them had only been attending the school grmnastics club for a few weeks. Unfortunately they didn’t finish in medal position but they can be very proud of their hard work and determination.
The Year 5/6 team also performed well despite the fact that they were competing in a higher level of the competition against a number of club gymnasts.
Lucie achieved overall bronze in the vaulting section of the competition and our 4 highest scoring gymnasts of the day came in silver medal position overall. This is a fantastic achievement and it means that Lucie, Josh, Meghan and Alice have now been invited to the next stage to compete in the Kent School Games Finals!
Special thanks go to Katie one of our Year 6 sports prefects who accompanied the team as our official photographer and reporter. Thanks also go to Shannon who was unable to compete due to an elbow injury shortly before the competition but still came along to help with coaching the other teams.
All the pupils who attended were fantastic ambassadors for Kemsley Primary Academy and have now been awarded their Bronze sport award for representing their school, well done to you all!
