There was much excitement and lots of tears in school earlier this week as the results came through for the Key Steps gymnastics finals .
Our team of 4 from year 5 and 6 qualified back in March to represent Sheppey and Sittingbourne Sports Partnership in the Kent finals, a fantastic achievement in itself. Since then they have been practising hard and on Tuesday 30th June we headed off to Pegasus gymnastics club in Maidstone.
With around 330 gymnasts competing over the course of the day, we were feeling both excited and a little nervous. The gymnasts performed their two floor routines and a vault in front of a panel of judges.
The results were fantastic! Competing against 15 schools representing sports partnerships from all over Kent, we are very pleased and proud to say that our team came 1st!
I am very proud of the team for all the hard work and dedication they have put in, but also how well they have worked as a team. They are true ambassadors for our school, they aspired to be the best they could and with determination that is what they have achieved! Well done to all of you.
