Willow class explored which shapes float…

As a class we discussed the terms ‘sink’ and ‘float’.  We then thought about what objects are able to float and considered reasons why they were able to float.  Using a ball of plasticine we moulded different shapes then tested which ones were able to float.  We ensured it was a fair test by using the same amount of plasticine for each test.  We made a ball, sausage, flat shape and cup like shape.  Both the ball and sausage shapes sunk.  The flat shape was able to float for a short time.  We discovered the cup like shape was able to float without sinking!
