Everybody had great fun this morning at the year 5 and 6 express event. Following on from our work on Jurassic Park, the children (and adults) worked in teams to create junk modelling dinosaurs.
Year 6 have been working on word classes this week. Today they played ‘can you guess what my word is’ and had great fun asking questions to help guess the word on their head!
Year 6 got up close and personal with a range of animals today when they were lucky enough to have a visit from the science department at Highstead. The animals helped them understand more about animal adaptation.
This term, year 6 have spent time considering the learning behaviours and values they display whilst in school. They have also worked with Mrs Melrose to consider targets for each of our school values that they can work towards in order to improve their own learning. Year 6 had a fantastic day of fun in the sun on Tuesday whilst bouncing and sliding on a range of inflatables. They started the day by making their own picnic, which they ate at lunchtime. More memories were made for Team 6 as they become leavers 2015.
Year 6 were kept busy this morning whilst helping to take delivery of tree stump stools to go around our fire pit. Although year 6 were sad that they will not get to use them in the woodland area, they were very happy to help arrange them.
It was lovely to see parents come in and join their children in celebrating our Tomorrow’s World topic at the same time as taking a trip down memory lane. Year 6 made the most of the sunshine and only having 8 members of Team 6 today while taking full advantage of having such an amazing woodland area. They started the morning on a nature walk, collecting things to make a nature picture with and then they made camps using blankets and pegs.
