The children in nursery, reception and key stage 1 had a visit from the “Mr Junk Man” on Friday. He brought in lots of instruments he has made out of junk materials and we all had great fun creating music as part of an orchestra.
Year 6 have worked incredibly hard over the last 2 days, designing and making moving models of fairground rides. Every model contains a moving mechanism: either a cam or a pulley. Next week we will be evaluating the effectiveness of our creations against our original design criteria.
Year 1 were helped by their favourite toys last week. The toys were very well behaved and helped the children with their descriptive writing. Year 6 had an amazing day at Thorpe Park at the start of the term and kicked off their ‘Scream Machine’ topic with a bang. Lots of fun was had on many of the rides and Sycamore class behaved impeccably throughout the entire day.
Oak class are loving their newly decorated book corner and are enjoying spending some of their child initiated time looking sitting quietly and looking at books. Even the adults love it too!
Week 2 of our new topic and things are really starting to roll along nicely. Last week saw Birch class produce some outstanding poetry based on their experiences at Thorpe Park the week before. We all had a fantastic time on Friday dressed as our favourite heroes. There were many Spider-men, cat girls, princesses and iron men walking around the school, all showing their hero qualities. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who dressed up, you all looked amazing!
