The children in Year 2 spent the afternoon learning about England, Northern Ireland, Scotland & Wales. We located the countries on a map, identified the capital cities, looked at how the flag from each country made up the flag of the United Kingdom & discovered who the patron saint of each country is.
Year 2 had fun this afternoon using the iPads to take a virtual tour of Buckingham Palace. The children visited the Throne Room, Grand Staircase & The Drawing Room in order to answer questions about the Queen & Buckingham Palace.
With the sun shinning, Maple Class were lucky enough to take their dance lesson out on the playground this afternoon!
The children in Maple Class used DK Find to research the Amazon Rainforest. They recorded their findings as a mind map.

Year 1 & 2 had great fun taking part in a carousel of activities this morning. All the children had the opportunity of making a musical shaker, a headdress, a Brazilian flag & a collage of an animal from the Amazon Rainforest.

Maple Class had great fun identifying European flags this afternoon. All the children were engaged in their learning & very quickly became competitive; trying to be the first to identify all the flags. Once completed some of the children researched the capital city of each country.
Maple Class were lucky enough to look at a signed photo of the famous Brazilian football player, Pele. After finding out Year 2 have been learning about Pele, Leia’s Dad kindly bought in his signed photo to support the children’s learning.
