Our Vision:  To…..

Subject Leader:  Mrs Franks

The National Curriculum Purpose of Study for Art:

“Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity.  A high-quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.  As pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop more rigours understanding of art and design.  They should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.”

What we are good at:

  • Linking art opportunities through our termly Cornerstones topics to give pupils experience of art from different places in the world and different periods of time
  • A stronger emphasis is being placed on art throughout the school and our achievements are celebrated in a variety of ways
  • Our pupils enjoy artistic activities and our “Creative crew” are keen to play a part in planning what happens in the future

Things we are working on:

  • Developing our skills and confidence to be more creative independently, and to be able to analyse and talk about our own work and that of others
  • Increasing the opportunities we offer to our pupils to engage in artistic experiences that will enrich what we offer in our curriculum provision
