On Monday 10th November 2014 a team of 6 pupils from Kemsley Primary Academy attended the Year 5/6 Quicksticks hockey tournament at Borden Grammar school organised by the Sheppey & Sittingbourne School Sports Partnership.
The pupils had been training in the hockey club every Monday after school run by Mr Minton.
The tournament was attended by 8 teams in total from 3 different schools. Kemsley, Rodmersham and Tunstall.
The day started with a practise session with Connor until about 11am when the tournament games started.
Kemsley started well with a one nil win thanks to a goal from Ben, followed by a win in their second game with another goal from Ben and one from Lee. Despite losing their third game, Ben still managed to score 3 goals!
The 4th game saw Alex adding to the score sheet alongside Ben to claim a 4 all draw.
As the afternoon progressed injury and fatigue set in for the Kemsley team and they only managed one more win and two losses.
Overall Kemsley finished a fantastic joint fourth place position with the well-deserved first place going to Minterne A.
All the team showed great sportsmanship and team work and the members of the team who were substituted did a great job of supporting and cheering on their teammates.
Ben was fantastic as our top goal scorer, Lee and Rosie were really good at tackling and passing, Breanna played really well getting into some good positions to pass and Kai showed great resilience by keeping on going despite injury.
Well done to the whole team!
