Girls Football Tournament – 2nd Place!

After the success of the boys, it was the turn of the girls on Monday this week. The girls were drawn against Milton Court, Minterne and St Peters.

In their first game, Kemsley battled really well and got a well deserved 0-0 draw against a strong St. Peter’s side. In the next game, they told an early lead through a long range strike from Vanessa A. Minterne pushed and pushed for the equaliser and they got it very late on. In their final game of the group, Kemsley knew that a win would put them through to the final! They were up against Milton Court and both team fired a few early shots to no avail. After a quick half time team talk from Ms. Teague, Kemsley came flying out the blocks and Vanessa A doubled her tally for the tournament with a well-placed shot last the keeper. Kemsley had loads of chances to extend their lead, but they couldn’t find a way past the Milton keeper. But it didn’t matter! They were in the final!

In the final, Kemsley were up against St. Peter’s. St. Peter’s started strongly and quickly gained a 2-0 lead. However, after half time, Kemsley were much the better team and the only thing missing from their play was a goal! St. Peter’s hung on for the win, but the girls battled and played superbly.

A big thank you to Ms. Teague and everyone that came down to watch. 2nd place is a superb effort for a team that is still learning the game and haven’t played together before!
