For ‘World Geography Day’ Willow Class were given the continent North America to research. Mrs Bond decided we would focus on Chicago in the state of Illinois. We located North America on a world map & then found Illinois on a map of the USA. We looked at the different famous buildings of Chicago, found out about the ‘Great Chicago Fire’ and how it started, discovered the different words Americans use then searched for facts on Chicago. During the afternoon we were lucky enough to speak to Mrs Bond’s brother, who lives in Chicago, through Skype. He pointed out the famous Chicago buildings we had been learning about, all from the rooftop of his apartment. We then asked him questions about Chicago which he kindly answered for us.
