As part of Science Week, we have spent the last two days learning about space. First, we watched some NASA videos showing the Mars2020 mission. Then we designed and created our own Mars rovers. They needed to be stable to travel over the rocky ground, insulated to work in extreme temperatures and be able to carry rock samples. We then created a Mars landscape on the playground and tested our models.
Today, we watched a video of the Mars rover collecting rock samples. We had a go at collecting our own core samples from rocks made out of playdough. Then we completed an experiment to see which asteroids created the biggest craters by dropping balls of plasticine into sand.
